There was something wrong. Something terribly, terribly wrong. The realization seemed to hit all of them at once, stopping them in their tracks. In a forest that size, there should have been constant chatter, white noise filling up the space around them. Instead, the forest was deathly quiet, with the breathing of the four Pokemon the only sound they could hear. No one wanted to voice the concern they felt, the nervousness, the anxiety. They looked at one another, each hoping another would break the silence.

A sharp cry broke the silence, a pokemon was yelling up ahead! Suddenly, the forest was bathed in a harsh white light, blinding and disorienting the group.

Once Katie had lowered her arms, it seemed at first glance as if everything was back to normal. The forest was full of sound and life again, and the anxiety that had been in the air was dispelled. Relieved, Katie turned to the others to share a nervous laugh at what had happened. But as she turned back to the group, a short, cold stab of fear hit her heart. Where four had been standing just moments before, there were only two. Chuckling nervously, Katie turned around calling out to Missy.

“Missy! Hey, where are you? Seriously, Missy, what’cha doin, where are you?..... Missy!!” Her voice rose in pitch, becoming nearly a squeak. “Bark, did you see where Missy went?” She asked, whirling to face the Houndour.
Instead, she was met with Bark’s fleeing form, nose pressed to the ground as he sprinted off, calling out to Eelysia as he went, with just a hint of terror in his voice. Katie tried to follow for a bit, calling out to Bark, but he kept going. Her short Mienfoo legs meant she couldn’t keep up with him, but she had chased him close to the edge of the forest. She decided to head back to town, wishing very hard that she would find Missy waiting for her there.
